Natventure started in Jan 2020 as an extension of my passion in nature and books. Both have been my anchor and escape during the turbulent years in my life.
Initially, Natventure operated as an online bookstore with a key curation on nature and adventure themed books. But as the saying goes, life begins at the end of your comfort zone.
With lofty ambition, a tinge of recklessness and no experience, Natventure opened Singapore's first and only kids book cafe in 2021.
We wanted to redefine the concept of a child-friendly establishment, and curated a space where children's experiences are being prioritised. We believe that children are capable individuals and wanted to create an environment where they can safely express their freedom and independence within reasonable limits.
Unfortunately, all good things come to an end.
We worked really hard, often with our kids in tow. But our inexperience and lack of foresight made it challenging for us to juggle the mountainous task of running the business and the needs of our young children. Even with all the grit in the world, we were burning ourselves down on both ends.
In every ending, there is a new beginning.
Though we have ended the journey of Natventure Book Cafe, the book dream continues. Beyond being just another bookstore, Natventure strive to be a community of book lovers, adventurers, and nature enthusiasts. I hope that through this platform, you'll find encouragement through the words and experiences of a multitude of authors and the resiliency of nature.
It has been a roller coaster ride! No regrets, and only learning to be better with every passing day.
Lastly, much appreciation to every one of you who have journeyed through hell and high waters with me.
